Frequently asked questions
Neurofeedback offers a real-time view of what is going on in the brain along with feedback to help the brain recognize what is going and make changes. There are two general types of neurofeedback: Linear and Dynamical. Linear neurofeedback follows different specific protocols that tells a brain what to do based on a database of what a "normal" brain "should" look like. The problem is that no brain is the same and so side effects can occur when a brain is pushed too far or a problem isn't resolved because of missteps by the practitioner or protocol.
NeurOptimal® Dynamical Neurofeedback uses sensor to read what is going on in real-time in the brain and holds up a mirror to the brain (256 times a Second). Through brief interruptions in music, NeurOptimal® shows your brain what is going on and instead of forcing it in a certain direction, your brain gets to decide what it needs to do, or how to change based on that information. This process is repeated over a 33 minute session that helps your brain to function at its best, making lasting improvements over time. NeurOptimal® clients and trainers alike have noted improvement in sleep, stress and relaxation, mood (depression and anxiety), peak performance in sports and business, and other areas. See the NeurOptimal® Trainer survey here for additional information on where they have seen improvements.
